Brief History on Labor Day…

Observed the first Monday in September, Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.

We have been busy laboring preparing for the fall vending season here in Phoenix. With temps still reaching 110°, it is really hard to imagine being outside for any length of time. Gratefully, The Briar Patch Marketplaces are held inside (first one is next weekend … whew). If you are local to the Phoenix area, stop by Ironwood High School next weekend (6051 W. Sweetwater • Saturday, September 10th 9a-5p & Sunday, September 11th 9a-4p ) and say HELLO! Mention this blog post for a complimentary iTovi scan.

Then we have Vistancia Farmer’s Market the next weekend (outside but just morning time, and we have a shade canopy). It is interesting to prepare for an event you have not previously vended at. What to bring, which displays, do we have enough signage, is there electricity available at the booth for a diffuser? You get the idea. Exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. These mental and emotional battles have me thinking about early American workers who probably wrestled with loads of questions, will it work? What is the long term outcome? How will this affect me, my family, my town and my state? I have been asking a lot of questions these past few weeks.

We are launching some new products, and I am super excited. At the Briar Patch, in addition to the Melt Into Zzz, we will have bath salts (4 scents/experiences), room sprays, essential oil roll ons, diffuser blends, a diffuser or two, books and the ability to book an herbal consultation or a life coaching session. Super excited to be out and vending again, I just love talking to/educating people!!
